You can tell everybody we have won the FA Cup – Man City players meet Elton John

Manchester City were greeted by singer Elton John as they touched down at Manchester Airport on their return from winning the FA Cup at Wembley.

The club posted videos of the squad posing for pictures with the 76-year-old on the tarmac as they disembarked from their plane late on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola said in advance of the final, which City won 2-1 against Manchester United to secure the second leg of a possible treble, that he had attended John’s concert in the city last week as he sought to take his mind off a defining period in the club’s history.

The club’s Twitter feed headed one of the videos “you can tell everybody we have won the FA Cup”, a reference to a line from …

Ronaldo will not accept FA charge over phone throw incident, says Ten Hag

Cristiano Ronaldo will not accept his Football Association (FA) charge for throwing an Everton supporter s phone, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said.

A video emerged on social media of United forward Ronaldo appearing to smash a fan s phone as he left the field after Everton s 1-0 Premier League win in April.

The Portugal captain was questioned by Merseyside Police in relation to an alleged assault and criminal damage and received a caution in August.

The FA last month charged the 37-year-old for breaching Rule E3, which relates to improper and/or violent conduct , but the case now looks set to proceed to a hearing.

Asked if Ronaldo accepts the charge, Ten Hag told reporters on Wednesday: We have talked about that. He will not accept it.

Hoogland calm over Schalke future

Schalke defender Tim Hoogland is not concerned over his future with the club despite his contract expiring on June 30.

Hoogland, a product of Schalke s youth academy, returned to the club in 2010 from Mainz before going on loan to Stuttgart last season.

The 28-year-old has made just six Bundesliga appearances this term but is confident that he still has a role to play.

I am happy with every minute that I am on the pitch and can help the team, he told the club s official website.

It does not drive me mad that there is so little time to the end of the season.

Schalke face Mainz in the league on Friday as Jens Keller s men look to make it five top-flight wins on the spin.

Keller s side, who sit fourth, have not lost in the Bundesliga since December 7 …

Eduardo Hernandez plays down Chicharito-Kovacic swap talk

The agent of Manchester United striker Javier El Chicharito Hernandez, Eduardo Hernandez, has denied reports linking the Mexican talisman with a summer move to Italian giants FC Internazionale Milano.

The Mexico international, 25, joined United from Liga MX side C.D. Guadalajara in the summer of 2010 and is contracted to Old Trafford until June 2016.

The 25-year-old, rated at around €16 million, has fallen down the pecking order at United following the departure of manager Sir Alex Ferguson, with new boss David Moyes preferring the likes of Danny Welbeck, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney.

Earlier this year, Mexico national team supremo Miguel Herrera revealed that Chicharito was unhappy with his lack of first-team opportunities in Manchester, with th…

England 1-2 Netherlands: Three Lions humbled by Holland

England suffered defeat at the hands of the Netherlands in their final friendly before Roy Hodgson picks his squad for Euro 2016, as the Three Lions struggled to reproduce their Berlin magic.

The veteran England boss has decided to name his final 23-man squad early, before the next batch of friendlies, but few of the heavily rotated starting XI impressed compared to the line-up that stunned Germany three days earlier.

After a lifeless first half that featured a touching tribute to Johan Cruyff, Jamie Vardy finally broke the deadlock just before the break to finish off an excellent team move from England, guiding Kyle Walker s pull-back into the back of the net with ease.

The visitors who had lost five of their last eight matches before the game improved after t…

Thiago Motta hails ´phenomenon´ Verratti

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta has voiced his admiration for Marco Verratti following his compatriot s fine performances in the first half of the season.

Verratti has been a key figure for the reigning Ligue 1 champions, who are already 19 points clear after 19 matches of the 2015-16 campaign.

And veteran Motta is thoroughly enjoying playing alongside the 23-year-old.

Marco is a phenomenon, Thiago Motta told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

He is still young, but has already gained so much experience.

He really is a strong player. He can do it all in the middle of the park.

Motta then went on to discuss his side s lofty Champions League ambitions, with Chelsea awaiting Laurent Blanc s men in the first knockout stage.

Henderson targeting De Gea´s starting spot at Man Utd

Dean Henderson warned David de Gea he was targeting his starting spot at Manchester United.

After impressing on loan at Sheffield United last season, Henderson has returned to Old Trafford and signed a five-year deal last month.

The 23-year-old, who is yet to make a senior appearance for Manchester United, started 36 games in the Premier League in 2019-20.

And Henderson said he was eager to make his mark for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s side, with De Gea having come under fire last season after several mistakes.

David de Gea has been a great goalkeeper first and foremost for many years. He s been phenomenal, the shot-stopper told UK newspapers.

That’s something I aspire to be, to have a career like him at the club, so I ll be going back in first day…

Sane warned of ´different pressure´ at Bayern

Leroy Sane has been warned to expect a different pressure at Bayern Munich by Mehmet Scholl.

Winger Sane has returned to Germany ahead of the 2020-21 season, joining Bayern from Manchester City in a deal that could reportedly rise to £54.8million.

Though the Germany international won two Premier League titles, a pair of EFL Cups and the FA Cup while at Pep Guardiola s City, he has moved to a Bayern side coming off a treble-winning season.

Scholl, who made 469 appearances for Bayern between 1992 and 2007, feels Sane, 24, needs to be aware of the expectations in his new environment.

FC Bayern is a special club, there are special conditions, he told Bild.

It s a different level, a different pressure. You have to be careful as a young player. <…

Swedish defender to leave Fulham

Sweden international Fredrik Stoor has revealed that his transfer request has finally been granted.

The 26-year-old is expected to leave Fulham in the January transfer window, after failing to make an impact at Craven Cottage since joining the club back in 2008.

I said I want to get away from here, and it seems there may be something this time, he told Fotbollskanalen.

What it is is too early to say. I ve wanted to be sold a long time, and now the club has changed. They have agreed to let me go in this window.

I know there are clubs in both Denmark and Norway who are interested. I ve also heard rumours about clubs in other leagues in Europe who are interested, but so far nothing is clear.

Swansea’s ‘most complete performance’ in derby win over Cardiff – Luke Williams

Luke Williams believed Swansea produced the “most complete performance” of his tenure so far as they claimed a 2-0 Championship victory over derby rivals Cardiff.

Liam Cullen put Swansea ahead in the 34th minute before missing a penalty six minutes into the second half.

But Jamal Lowe bagged his seventh goal of the season – in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage-time – to cap off a fine win for the Swans, who ended the Bluebirds’ four-game winning streak.

It was Swansea’s fifth win from six matches against Cardiff and went some way to avenging their 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture last September.

“We won in a really positive way, I can’t argue with the way we went about it today,” said the Swansea boss.

“I think the combin…
