Henderson targeting De Gea´s starting spot at Man Utd

Dean Henderson warned David de Gea he was targeting his starting spot at Manchester United.

After impressing on loan at Sheffield United last season, Henderson has returned to Old Trafford and signed a five-year deal last month.

The 23-year-old, who is yet to make a senior appearance for Manchester United, started 36 games in the Premier League in 2019-20.

And Henderson said he was eager to make his mark for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s side, with De Gea having come under fire last season after several mistakes.

David de Gea has been a great goalkeeper first and foremost for many years. He s been phenomenal, the shot-stopper told UK newspapers.

That’s something I aspire to be, to have a career like him at the club, so I ll be going back in first day…

Sane warned of ´different pressure´ at Bayern

Leroy Sane has been warned to expect a different pressure at Bayern Munich by Mehmet Scholl.

Winger Sane has returned to Germany ahead of the 2020-21 season, joining Bayern from Manchester City in a deal that could reportedly rise to £54.8million.

Though the Germany international won two Premier League titles, a pair of EFL Cups and the FA Cup while at Pep Guardiola s City, he has moved to a Bayern side coming off a treble-winning season.

Scholl, who made 469 appearances for Bayern between 1992 and 2007, feels Sane, 24, needs to be aware of the expectations in his new environment.

FC Bayern is a special club, there are special conditions, he told Bild.

It s a different level, a different pressure. You have to be careful as a young player. <…

Swedish defender to leave Fulham

Sweden international Fredrik Stoor has revealed that his transfer request has finally been granted.

The 26-year-old is expected to leave Fulham in the January transfer window, after failing to make an impact at Craven Cottage since joining the club back in 2008.

I said I want to get away from here, and it seems there may be something this time, he told Fotbollskanalen.

What it is is too early to say. I ve wanted to be sold a long time, and now the club has changed. They have agreed to let me go in this window.

I know there are clubs in both Denmark and Norway who are interested. I ve also heard rumours about clubs in other leagues in Europe who are interested, but so far nothing is clear.

Swansea’s ‘most complete performance’ in derby win over Cardiff – Luke Williams

Luke Williams believed Swansea produced the “most complete performance” of his tenure so far as they claimed a 2-0 Championship victory over derby rivals Cardiff.

Liam Cullen put Swansea ahead in the 34th minute before missing a penalty six minutes into the second half.

But Jamal Lowe bagged his seventh goal of the season – in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage-time – to cap off a fine win for the Swans, who ended the Bluebirds’ four-game winning streak.

It was Swansea’s fifth win from six matches against Cardiff and went some way to avenging their 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture last September.

“We won in a really positive way, I can’t argue with the way we went about it today,” said the Swansea boss.

“I think the combin…

Torino v Inter: Visitors out to maintain dominance

Inter will be aiming to extend an unbeaten streak spanning 20 years when they travel to Torino for their Serie A opener on Sunday.

While only three points separated fifth-placed Inter and surprise packets Torino last season, Walter Mazzarri s men boast a significant edge, having not lost to the Turin-based outfit in 20 matches.

Inter have won 14 games and drawn six during that period, with their last defeat to Torino coming in the form of a 2-0 loss in February 1994.

And Inter make the trip to the Stadio Olimpico di Torino full of confidence following their 6-0 rout of Iceland s Stjarnan in the UEFA Europa League play-offs on Thursday.

Croatia international Mateo Kovacic netted a hat-trick, while striker Mauro Icardi scored twice as Inter kept their fifth…

Fernandez won the award for France s best coach in 2009/10, and he told French newspaper l Yonne Republicaine he was sad to be leaving a club where he had many happy memories.

Germany 4-1 Italy: Ozil seals emphatic win for Low’s men

Germany ended a 21-year wait for a win over Italy as they scored two goals in each half to record a resounding 4-1 triumph in Munich on Tuesday.

Having thrown away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to England on Saturday, Joachim Low s side bounced back in style to end a seven-match winless streak against their opponents.

Toni Kroos scored his second international goal in as many matches when his right-footed attempt from just outside the area broke the deadlock in the 24th minute.

Mario Gotze headed in his 17th goal for Germany on the stroke of half-time, while any fears the hosts might suffer another second-half collapse disappeared when full-back Jonas Hector broke his duck for the national team just before the hour mark.

Mesut Ozil made it 4-0 from the s…

Australia v Syria: Arnold wants Socceroos to focus on the small details

Australia coach Graham Arnold is confident there is nothing new Syria boss Fajr Ibrahim can do to catch the Socceroos by surprise in their crucial 2019 Asian Cup Group B encounter on Tuesday.

Syria sacked Bernd Stange following Thursday s 2-0 defeat to Jordan, appointing Ibrahim for a fourth term at the helm shortly after.

Ibrahim takes over ahead of their final group game at the tournament, with Syria – who are yet to score – in danger of bowing out.

By contrast, defending champions Australia need just a point to make sure of progression, having responded to their shock opening defeat to Jordan by beating Palestine 3-0.

Syria will be hoping a change of coach can inspire an improvement in their fortunes, but Arnold doubts there is much Ib…

Leicester City 2 Brighton and Hove Albion 0: Okazaki´s early opener sets Foxes on their way

Shinji Okazaki scored inside 52 seconds as Leicester City got their Premier League campaign up and running at the second attempt with a 2-0 home success against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Two late strikes at Arsenal on the opening day had the 2015-16 champions on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller, but this time the result never looked in doubt after a goal in the game s first attack, and Harry Maguire later headed a second.

Brighton barely laid a glove on Manchester City in their Premier League debut another 2-0 defeat and they again lacked the firepower to respond after Okazaki s opener at the King Power Stadium.

The Japan international s tap-in owed much to Mat Ryan s generous goalkeeping and the lead suited a well-versed Leicester game plan as…
